About Us
We believe in the power of the human spirit- that every great success is born from a great idea. When we founded Waxwing, we knew we wanted to help small businesses reach their full potential, but how?
Recognizing that the small business climate has fundamentally changed over the last five years, we didn’t want to offer small businesses expensive analysis or fancy buzzwords. Instead, we designed a menu of services to target specific areas within small businesses that are often under-resourced or under-utilized.

Lara Sorich
she/her
Lara Smith Sorich was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania, the greatest place on Earth! After high school graduation, she attended Ricks College and Utah State University. Lara met her husband, David, one Sunday in Pennsylvania and many years later they were wed in Washington, D.C. in August 1999. Lara and David have travelled the world together and love having new adventures. In 2004 they settled in Coventry, CT where, after battling through years of infertility, they were blessed with four children: Matilda, Charles, Albert, and Henry. After sixteen wonderful years, they moved to Maine after David received his Doctorate in Business. David is currently a professor at the Maine Maritime Academy. Lara loves being with her family, snuggling in her bed with a good book, cooking and baking, beach days with friends, having her back scratched, family movie night, a good snow day, event planning, and going on dates with her husband, and a really good chocolate cake! She currently lives in Blue Hill, Maine with her cute family, one guinea pig, one rabbit, one dog and lots of love!
We’re different. Here’s why:
Impact is the most important thing to us. We are grounded in our local community, and we aim to make a meaningful and progressive difference. That could mean helping a local store increase traffic, improving the retention rate at a nearby health care center, or assisting a farm in selling via e-commerce.
These small feats, collectively, all play a part in building a strong, local economy. That’s our goal- to make our community a better place to live and work.
