O’Brien House is a recovery center in Baton Rouge, LA, servicing homeless and indigent clients. The only one of its kind in a parish of half a million people, O’Brien House struggles with limited resources and a social stigma that limits the community’s engagement. Waxwing provided vital help (website + rebranding + e-commerce) in order for O’Brien House to collect donations quickly with less fees.
Website & Branding Snapshots:
Waxwing built a new, updated website. Click on the image to visit the new site.

Waxwing designed two new logos to be used in various scenarios. We updated previously-used iconography (house + butterfly), and we updated the color palette.

Since O'Brien House is a sober living center, we created a logo with a house and a butterfly, the sign of recovery, which was requested by the Executive Director.

O'Brien House was paying over 5% in fees in order to collect donations online. We implemented an easy e-commerce tool and negotiated a lower fee due to their non-profit status.
Other Work for O’Brien House:
In 2015, Amy founded the Annual O’Brien House Essay Contest, to engage young people and share stories of recovery. These annual events, combined with the short documentaries, drastically increased the community’s understanding and awareness of O’Brien House’s impact. As a result, over $250,000 was raised over the following five years.
Prior to 2022, Amy worked with O’Brien House to create annual short documentaries to raise awareness and solicit funding. These documentaries share the stories of the clients of O’Brien House. See them here.
